A lot has already been said about most Bible study curriculum and its constant need for improvements. This request is fairly reasonable as the effectivity of a Bible study to its participants is dependent on how Biblical teachings are facilitated and brought about for inspection in the table. The teaching techniques and participant’s coping skills are most of the time not patterned to one another and so it is always easier to adjust the first to work well with the latter.
Having said all these, a lot has already been said about recommendations on how to further enhance the Bible study curriculum. Each however are always age-situation specific thus limiting its reach. There is nothing wrong with being specific but why not try to be adventurous and include something of general interest and appeal on the lessons? Here are a couple of suggestions for a better and updated Bible Study curriculum.
- Start out with something ‘values-based’ such as the Adventures in Odyssey. The best way to start a discussion of any kind is through energizers that can catch-keep people’s attention. The Adventures in Odyssey is good start to set up a mood while at the same time communicating a message relevant with the study’s purpose. It is ideal as does not intend to preach only to teach.
- Fascinate participants with a real-time introduction of Biblical events and locations through Faith Lessons. You can never be blamed whenever you feel sleepy listening to the facilitator’s never ending storytelling. This is not tolerable though. You need to keep yourself awake to not miss anything! Faith lessons would take you to a tour that would help you understand the Bible better as you see the exact places where the exact events you are reading happened!
- Touch the participants’ hearts through NOOMA. You can never go wrong with a Bible curriculum showcasing NOOMA. NOOMA can end a Bible study with a BANG as its life applications on topics such as forgiveness and unconditional love are great keepsakes at the end of each lessons.
Dividing the Bible study into three parts ensures coverage of what is necessary to be discussed. Additionally, it keeps an organized trail of thoughts and learning that easily remembered. Through these Bible study curriculum additions, modern life learning are now better related to the timeless scripture.
